at home writing/new recording

This video is sort of an extension of the last video I posted. I wanted to show the progression of the song thus far. As I said, it started when I was listening to a song that I had heard called, "Book Down In The Basement," that was written at a song retreat Hanson puts on every year. So the beginning of the video is the piano part that I figured out. You can sort of hear the progression of the song, and the use of a similar syncopated rhythm in the finger picking.

I posted a new song on www.myspace.com/listentoswitzerland, but I thought I'd go ahead and stream it here as well.

Compared to the last recording it's quite a bit a) cleaner, b) more sparse, c) less bright, d) shorter, and e) coherent.

I haven't been recording or writing for very long, so it's a very cool feeling to hear a song that you wrote/recorded months ago that now sounds quite different and evolved musically.

I think next on the agenda is to continue writing, edit the footage I've taken into some new videos to catch everybody up on what I've been doing, and to record some more down the line.

i am loving this song so far. it's very travel-y...like cross-state midwestern road trip travel-y. although i'm sure you will re-record it at some point, i like the previous post's sound quality. i like how bright and twangy it is.

keep me updated. i'd like to hear it progress.

p.s. i love that you film yourself rambling around the kitchen with a guitar. i secretly do that too.
